Common Questions

Which one is better, ChatGPT or Claude?

They're good at different things, and plenty of people pay for both. ChatGPT is the better generalist chat. Claude Cowork is stronger at running long multi-step jobs against your own files and tools, which is the part that saves you hours rather than minutes. How much does Claude Cowork cost?

You need the Claude Pro plan or higher, which is $20 a month. That's the whole cost. There's no separate charge for Cowork.

Do I need a separate app to use Claude Cowork?

Yes, and this trips up almost everyone. Cowork lives in the Claude desktop app, which you download and install on your computer. You will not find it in the browser version.

Can Claude see everything on my computer?

No. It sees the folders you connect and nothing else. Nothing is connected by default, and it asks before acting on anything it hasn't been cleared for.

How do I keep sensitive client information private?

Connect the specific folder a job needs instead of your whole drive, and leave anything confidential out of the folders you connect. Check your firm's own policy on client data before you connect anything, because that rule is theirs to set, not mine.

What kind of work can I actually hand off?

The repetitive, multi-step work you already do the same way every time. Research, drafting, formatting, data pulled from one place and put into another, anything that follows a process you could write down. Start with one job, not ten.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Cowork was built for people who don't, which is the difference between it and Claude Code. You describe what you want in plain English. Setting it up means clicking through settings and organizing folders, not writing anything.
