Three Gemini features are already sitting inside apps you use every day: Gmail, Chrome, and your own documents in Google Workspace. Most professionals never open them.
Gemini already has access to your Gmail, your Drive files, and your Chrome history. No other AI platform has this level of access to your data and knows you better than Google's Gemini. Here's what to actually do with that:
Open Gmail. Top right corner, click the Gemini icon. Ask it to summarize a long email thread, search your whole inbox, and answer questions about what's in there.
The feature most professionals miss is inside the email message itself. Open a new email or hit reply. Go to the bottom of the compose window, past Send, past the AA font button. There's a pencil with a small star.
That's Help me write. Click it, type what you want the email to say in plain English, and it writes it. Ask for another pass until it sounds like you, then send. That's Google writing your emails inside the inbox you already have open.
Top right of Chrome, click Ask Gemini. A panel opens next to whatever page you're on. Say you're on Zillow, looking at a listing. Ask Gemini pulls the property details into a clean summary, price, beds, baths, square footage, days on market, so you're not manually copying specs into a client email or a CMA.
It works the same way on any tabs you have open. Comparing three vendor quotes, three software plans, three candidates? Ask Gemini to pull the details from every open tab into one side-by-side summary instead of toggling back and forth and taking your own notes.
You don't need to install anything for this. That's different from Claude or ChatGPT, where you'd add a browser extension to get them working inside Chrome. Gemini is already sitting there. Click Ask Gemini, top right, and use it.
Gemini Notebook, you might know it as NotebookLM, renamed in July, is a research and learning tool. Upload your own sources, PDFs, Google Docs, websites, YouTube links, up to 50 per notebook on the free tier, and it builds everything around only what you gave it: a summary, the key concepts explained, a quiz to test yourself, a mind map, even a slide-style presentation or infographic. Ask it anything in the chat and it answers from your sources, with citations back to the exact passage.
That's the real value. Because it only draws from what you uploaded, it can't wander off and invent an answer from its general training data the way a normal AI chat can. That's exactly why it's useful for real estate transaction documents. Upload a contract, an inspection report, a title commitment, and ask your questions knowing the answer is coming from the actual paperwork. Build one notebook per transaction so nothing from a different deal bleeds in.
Those same sources can also become a podcast-style audio overview, two AI hosts discussing your material out loud, or a short video overview covering it visually. Use it to promote a listing, build your personal brand, or pitch your business: upload what you've got and let it turn into something people will actually watch or listen to. Here's one I made about Leo Pareja, CEO of eXp Realty: listen to it here.
Everything above is free, included in the Google account you already have, with generous limits on everything covered here. Google has more than 30 AI tools total, most of them accessible through Google AI Studio (aistudio.google.com). For higher limits or the more advanced features, Google AI Pro starts at $19.99 a month.
Yes. Ask Gemini in Chrome, Help me write in Gmail, and Gemini Notebook are all included with any Google account, with generous free limits.
Gemini is the general assistant built into Gmail and Chrome. Gemini Notebook, renamed from NotebookLM, only answers from documents you upload, so it can't invent an answer outside your sources.
Yes, if you're signed into your Google account. That's why it doesn't need separate setup the way Claude or ChatGPT do inside Chrome.
No. Both are already built in. Gemini Notebook is a separate site (notebooklm.google.com) where you upload your own sources.
Pick based on where your work already happens, not which one wins some benchmark. If your business runs on Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Chrome, Gemini is the easy choice, it's already built into all of it, nothing new to log into. Claude tends to write cleaner, more polished documents. ChatGPT has the widest range of outside connectors if your work spans a lot of different apps. None of the three is the best one overall, the right one is whichever is already sitting where you do the work. If you want the same breakdown for Claude, read what Claude actually does for your business.

Knowing which one to delegate real work to, and building it into how your team runs, is the strategy.
I help business owners and teams build the roadmap: choosing the right AI or agentic platform for the work, and putting it to work running the business.
